Victory tastes as sweet as honey. With Carlos Yulo becoming the first Filipino male Olympic gold medalist in the country’s history, here comes another first. Engkanto Brewery’s High Hive Honey Ale has clinched the highest international honor – World’s Best Beer for 2024 in the flavored category.

Engkanto Brewery has gained recognition at the World Beer Awards for the past four years, but this year marks a milestone achievement for the Filipino brand, being named the World’s Best Beer in the Flavored Honey and Maple Syrup beer category.

Engkanto emerged on top, outshining 70 contenders from France, Canada, Netherlands and other countries at the annual beer competition and placing Filipino craft beer on the world map.

The beer’s winning streak

Crafted with pure honey sourced from local bee farms and Apiaries, their High Hive Honey Ale stood out with its perfect blend of sweet honey notes and a hint of bitterness.

This ale mix is proof of Engkanto Brewery’s commitment to using locally sourced ingredients and traditional brewing methods, elevating their beers to international standards.

“It’s unprecedented, it’s historic, and we’re all ecstatic!” exclaimed Engkanto’s founder Ian Paradies.

Engkanto’s victory didn’t stop with one win. Their Green Lava Double IPA clinched a gold win in the Imperial/Double IPA category while their Live It Up Lager also emerged as a champion in the Classic Pilsner category.

In addition, Engkanto’s Paint Me Purple Ube Lager infused with ube and desiccated coconut also snagged a silver medal in the Flavored Beer category.

Now available in eight countries, Engkanto beer is further expanding its reach with its recent launch in Australia in May this year, further solidifying its status as a global brand.

With its success at the Asia Beer Championship 2023, these latest accolades aren’t just making headlines but also reshaping the future of local craft beer.

Raising our glass to Engkanto, we can’t wait to see what’s on tap next.
